Assorted Information (index): Sending small sums of money to Switzerland (incl. for postage)

Small sums of money can usually be sent to Switzerland in the form of postage stamps.

First, one must confirm that Swiss stamps will be an acceptable form of payment. Also ask their preference of:

Stamps may be ordered from Swiss Post Office - Philatelic Shop (you'll have to be patient, as the page is rather slow.) and charged to your credit card (VISA for sure, probably others). By following the prompts one can buy stamps, have them charged to a credit card, and select an alternate "deliver to" destination if desired. CAUTION NOTE: Total order must be over CHF 15.

"Postage stamps for postage use" may be easier to use (stamps are listed by value and type) - but stamp collectors will appreciate if you proceed via "Postage stamps for collection".

This webpage takes a little getting used to, but if one anticipates periodically needing to transfer small amounts of money (in Swiss currency) to Switzerland, it's well worth spending the time to get familiar with the procedure. If you are planning to use the service on a regular basis, it is recommended to register with them - but there is also the option for a "direct purchase without registration".
